Review - Hatchet 3 (by Decker Shado)

Wiki Article

Hatchet 3 is the Hatchet's horror film from 2013. It chronicles Victor Crowley's continuing adventures and his rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley and Brian Quinn is Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanderbilt plays Misty.

The film's greatest strength lies in its use of practical special effects. Unlike many modern horror movies that heavily rely on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly realistic makeup effects and sets, resulting in some truly horrific moments throughout the film.

The cast delivers a strong performance with Kane Hodder being the most terrifying villain. It's like a slasher film from the 1980s, with the dialogue being somewhat tongue-in-cheek and campy. There are also some truly funny moments that offer (click now to read clips) an entertaining contrast to the heart-wrenching violence.

Due to the small budget (1 million dollars), many of the locations are duplicates of earlier films. The boat house in Hatchet 2 was only used once and the rest of the footage feels like it's been reused from earlier films. Hatchet or Hatchet II may find it familiar, and this could result in the movie feeling too familiar.

Overall, Hatchet 3 was an enjoyable show. I enjoyed the violent thrills it offered as well as the engaging performances of its actors.
